Television is the basis of our success. We use our TV stations’ millions-strong reach to advance into digital business areas. In this way, we have consistently diversified our Company in recent years and created additional sources of revenue. Today, our growth is based on four segments: German-speaking TV business, our digital unit with a large entertainment and e-commerce portfolio, and our international program production and sales subsidiary.
ProSiebenSat.1 is Germany’s most successful station group. Our core business is advertising-financed free TV. We are number 1 on the German audience and TV advertising market with our strong station brands SAT.1, ProSieben, kabel eins, sixx, SAT.1 Gold, ProSieben MAXX and – since September 2016 – kabel eins Doku. Our unique station portfolio on Europe’s largest TV market also includes three basic pay TV channels. We also operate successful free TV stations and multiple advertising and programming windows in Austria and Switzerland. All in all, we reach around 44 million TV households in the German-speaking world.
The Digital Entertainment segment includes the online video business with the pay video-on-demand portal maxdome, the multi-channel network Studio71, and the fields of ad tech and data. In the “Adjacent” business unit, we also operate our own record label and are active in music and live entertainment and in artist management. ProSiebenSat.1 plans to rise into the ranks of the leading digital entertainment players in the German-speaking region and, in the medium term, internationally.
The Digital Ventures & Commerce segment comprises the successful e-commerce business of ProSiebenSat.1 Group. By exchanging advertising time for a share in revenues and/or an equity interest and by means of conventional acquisitions, ProSiebenSat.1 has established an attractive Digital Ventures & Commerce portfolio in recent years. The Group is driving the portfolio’s growth thanks to the strategic link-up with the TV business.
In the Content Production & Global Sales segment, the Red Arrow Entertainment Group bundles the international program production and distribution business of ProSiebenSat.1. Red Arrow includes a dynamically growing group of 21 international television production companies across eight countries. In 2016, the number of Red Arrow´s productions was more than 500, the company’s program catalog included more than 900 titles. In the Content Production & Global Sales segment, ProSiebenSat.1 Group is also expanding its portfolio with strategic acquisitions and thereby focusing on the English-speaking region in particular.
